3 Years Business Plan

Day 154 - 846 day to go

Today I attended a three years business plan presentation by my CEO. He presented it to the group CEO with the present of a few departments. In general, it was a good presentation without much queries raised by the Group CEO. Nevertheless, some budget figure was challenged by the CEO and other colleagues. I really learned on the fly how a smart CEO can pick up questionable and illogical figures by going through a proposal.

The proposal was done by one of the department and when CEO questioned on the justification, it was explained but I can sense myself that it was not convincing enough. One lesson learned from this experience is that we should let our peer to challenge our budget and assumption used before we present it to a higher level. This is one of the most critical but may also be the most overlooked aspect of a proposal.

Happy Moment:

  1. Arising from my CEO's request for a report, I completed the 7-page report in 2.5 hours yesterday. This report help me twice today i.e. I sent to the Group CEO for an update and I also presented it to my supervisor again when he ask me to do it. I did it before he asked.
  2. Rushed home after work to help my girl to find her notebook. Despite not able to find it, at least she has tried hard to find it.

Creativity: It is what inside that count - be prepared.

When the Head of Strategy asked about our plan to launch 14 products in the next 3 years, I was able to provide 5 justification for the adequacy of our resources, by using logical thinking skill.
