No blog post for days 27 as I went to Singapore yesterday to take part in the Sundown Marathon which started from 10pm at night. Based on my few years domestic and international experiences, I would say by far it was a very well organized events (actually from what I heard, Standard Chartered Marathon held in Singapore has been the best but I have yet to take part).
I think it is a very well planned and organised event from many aspects as follow:
- Internet registration for both local and overseas runners
- A few goodies bag and runners bid date and sites
- Very good and informative website
- Transportation arrangement both before and after the race (include free shutter bus)
- Lots of assistants and staff to help runners
- On the road safety measures
- Plenty of water stations
- Lots of supporters and cheerleaders along the route
- Entertainment for runners and supporters all night long which include life entertainment and a big screen for football match
- Shower and changing facilities
- Snack and food outlet
- Free photo shot with immediate print out for runners
- Large wait areas
- Organised luggage deposits area
- Lots of first aid along the road
- Distance markers almost every kilometer
- Clear signboard for direction and hydration stations
- Provider power gel and banana
- Good running route that pass by restaurants, parks, roads, campsite to make it interesting
- Lots of toilets along the roads
- Good finisher T shirts and medals
- Good goodies bags
- Good traffic controls
- Publicity
- and so on
